New Cataclysm Updates

Stats
Going away completely:
Defense: No longer a skill or show up on gear. Any existing defense being turned into dodge/parry/block. Becoming uncritable is attained by Bear Form/Defensive stance/Righteous Fury
Weapon Skill: Every new character will be completely proficient in every weapon they are capable of using. No more training weapons.
Mana per 5: MP5 will be replaced with Spirit.
Changing
Armor Penetration: Not on gear anymore, it will only exist from abilities (like sunder armor) or various talents.
Shield Block Value: Every single block will reduce damage by 30%, possibly increasable by talents.
Spell Power: Comes through Intellect instead so the more Int the more SP. The exception is that caster weapons will still have this stat, all other gear will not.
Attack Power: Similar to SP, Agility = 2 AP/Strength = 2 AP.
Spirit and Caster Mana Regen: Healer stat only. DPS casters will be able to regenerate mana they just won't need spirit to do it. The way spirit regening mana is being redone.
Haste: Increases the amount of rage Warriors gain, increases the rate at which Rogues recover energy, increases the rate Hunters recover focus, and reduce the cooldown on a Death Knights Runes.
Dodge, Block and Parry
Dodge: 100% avoided attack. Doesn't hit you.
Block: Static 30% damage reduction on the damage you block.
Parry: 50% reduction on the hit you parry and then another 50% reduction on the hit after that.
Resilience: Simplified, reduces the amount of damage you take and critical damage you take. No longer reduces the effect of mana burns or crit chance.
---MASTERY STAT---
Mastery = Awesome. Does something different based on what tree you're specced into. Heavily based on the talent tree changes.
Other
Stamina and armor are being increased on cloth, leather and mail items just to be a little bit closer to the plate wearers. Clothies will still be incredibly squishy if they take aggro and tanks will still be tanking things.
Bear Form will give less stamina because of ^^^. THIS IS NOT A NERF.
All existing gear is being reworked into the new system.
Attack Power > Agility/Strength and Stamina
Armor Penetration > Haste or Crit
Intellect is being removed from mail DPS items because of Hunters using focus and Enhance shamans will be compensated in some other way.
Spell Power with the exception of caster weapons > Intellect and Stamina
Spirit is being completely removed from caster DPS gear > Probably Intellect and Stamina
Mana per 5 > Spirit
Balance Druids and Elemental Shaman will be using healing gear. The spirit will be turned into hit by talents.
BOSSES
Bosses in higher tiers will require more hit based on the tier. So you'll need more hit in a Tier 12 raid than a Tier 11 so that the stat isn't just thrown away.
Reforging
Take a stat that you don't want and turn it into something better. Example: A Death Knight tank with a piece that has block on it, turn it into parry or dodge.
